Meet Jelisa, Terrance, and Brianna. Jelisa and Terrance have been with the Options program since their Freshman year, when they found out they were pregnant. After Jelisa delivered, with careful coordination and collaboration between Options and CPS, she started homebound at the same time school started. She didn’t miss a beat.

As Brianna began to grow and thrive, so did these student parents. They were among the top ten in their class, and participated in sports—football softball, baseball, and track. Jelisa was part of the band. And we can’t forget their outstanding participation in the Options program. By junior year this couple was mentoring the group members. Terrance, our resident dad, always had great advice from the male perspective—something that many of our girls don’t get to hear.

Jelisa and Terrance graduated from Orr High School in June, 2016, the first in their families to graduate from high school.

Jelisa and Terrance were accepted at many colleges and universities. They decided to attend Wright College, where they are both eligible for the Mayor’s scholarship (free tuition with a 3.0 GPA). They will work and save and eventually transfer to a four-year school. Brianna will attend a 1/2 day Early Headstart program at the elementary school Jelisa attended.
