During the COVID-19 pandemic, Options for Youth’s Home Visitors are determined to continue supporting the young families in our programs.
Options for Youth Prevention Initiative Home Visiting Program, in partnership with the Chicago Department of Family and Support Services, provides on-going training and home visiting services to parenting high school students and their young babies, with the goals of high school graduation for the parents and kindergarten-readiness of their children.
Formula, food, diapers, and baby books: We currently have 100 young families, at home, usually with three generations in small apartments–and all are very low income. Home Visitors can have NO face-to-face contact. Each young family’s needs are being monitored and met individually by their Home Visitor long-distance through cell phones. They are providing daily schedules to add structure to the household, and they need to provide baby books for the young parents and children to read together. Some WIC sites have run out of diapers and formula, and most of these young parents live in food deserts.
Help us provide essentials for these young families.
